I’ve purchased and devoured each of the books as they came out. Late last night, I got to “Because I have a question to ask you…”
Then I just about screamed! No more book, no teaser snippet of the next novel, not even a note telling me when I can get my next fix. Aaaargh! That was so MEAN of you!
Love the series. Thanks for lots of hours of enjoyment.
I just finished the second book in the Marked series. Wow! With each book I’m becoming a bigger fan. I wanted to tell you I’m happy about two things: discovering the series through Nalini Singh’s blog and having the three books come out within two months. Thank you and please, please, please let the series continue beyond the three books.
Hello!
You won’t remember for sure but we’ve already talked at goodreads before Eve of Darkness was released. I was the one who complained about how difficult it is to get your work in Germany. I finally got my copy last week and it was worth waiting. You’ve done such an amazing work here!
I love Eve and Cain is a real hottie. I always liked the “Bad Boy” most…
I’m a little late asking you to send me an ARC of Book2, and that’s why I have to endure the same torture for it as last time. But maybe you could send me an ARC of Eve of Chaos?
And can I hope for more Eve after that??
I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed DARKNESS! Thank you for going to the trouble of getting it. I’m hoping that one of the German publishers will pick up the translation rights and the books will be easier to find there. *fingers crossed*
I’m sorry to say that no ARCs of CHAOS were made due to a production delay. That’s torture for me, too.
But yes, there will be more Eve! The first three books are launch books to a continuing series. There is lots more in store…
Your series looks like something I’d enjoy, but apparently your publisher is not releasing it for the Kindle. At this point I’m doing almost all my reading that way, so I’m unlikely to buy your book(s) until/unless I can get an electronic copy that I can read on my Kindle.
So I followed the link, with every intention of immediately purchasing the Kindle version. But as is my habit I first glanced at the price. Imagine my reaction when I saw the Kindle version is selling for $9.99 while it is available for $6.99 in paper.
I know that authors don’t (usually) determine the price their works are sold for, but do you have any idea why they’re charging over 40% more for the Kindle version than the paperback?
If the reason is that you, the author, receive $3.00 more for each Kindle version sold than you do for a paperback then I will buy the Kindle version, since I like to support authors. (For example, I was an early contributor to Lee and Miller’s “Fledgling” and “Saltation” projects.) But that seems extremely unlikely.
Please tell me that I am wrong in my assumption that Tor just doesn’t get it when it comes to digital publication. If you can’t, is there any chance you can pass along the name and email address of someone at Tor I can contact about this?
I saw this article the other day: “Barnes & Noble Follows Amazon’s E-Book Pricing Model: ($9.99 standard price)” — http://tiny.cc/rCjOQ.
So I don’t know if that $14 list price is Tor’s doing or not. I noticed that the list price for the Sony version was also $14.
You’re correct in the assumption that I don’t have any say in how the books are priced. I also don’t receive higher royalties for e-book sales. I’m not sure who’s taking in the lion’s share of those digital sales, but it’s not me.
I’m also not sure how to contact Macmillan’s digital rights dept. (all of my correspondence is routed through my editor) You could try emailing my house publicist and she could probably forward your email to the correct person: kyle.avery@tor.com
To clarify the pricing, the $9.99 price is for electronic versions of hardcover or, at times, trade books, not paperbacks. Electronic editions of paperbacks tend to be in the $5 to $7 range – a bit under the cost of the “dead tree” editions.
I just sent off a note to the publicist, and I’ll let you know what I learn.
Hi Sylvia Wow, just read Eve’s book 1–loved it. Can’t wait for 2 and 3!!
Now I just have to go back and read it slower, to catch everything I missed running through the first time. (No patience, wanted to know how it ended)
Hi Sylvia,
Not a question but a comment. I work for the company that will typeset your new book. I hope that it is okay that I contact you. My son, Chad, now 23, is in the Air Force and graduated from the Language Institute in Monterey, CA three years ago,(Korean). My wife and I visited him there twice. He was in Irag until January and is now in Afghanistan. He was moved to another program after graduation along with some other top students and doesn’t use his Korean but loves what he does. It felt so good reading your comments in the book about you and your family and the institute. Thank you.
Dave
Thank you
Do you know how hard it is to read the excerpt and then realize how long I have to wait to get my hot little hands on the first book?!! It looks fabulous and I can’t wait for this to hit the shelves!
I picked up the ARC of your book, Eve of Darkness, at National yesterday, and I’ve already started it. Out of all the books I picked up (and there were many), yours has me hooked! Excellent job!

Sorry it took so long.
